► What is synthesis gas?
Syngas, or synthesis gas, is a combustible gas mixture consisting primarily of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and often some carbon dioxide. Syngas is typically a gasification product and the main application is power generation. Syngas is flammable and is widely used as a fuel for internal combustion engines. It has less than half the energy density of natural gas.
Syngas can be produced from many sources, including natural gas, coal, biomass or virtually any hydrocarbon feedstock, by reaction with steam (steam reforming), carbon dioxide (dry reforming) or oxygen (partial oxidation). . Syngas is a critical intermediate resource for the production of hydrogen, ammonia, methanol and synthetic hydrocarbon fuels.
Production methods include steam reforming of natural gas or liquid hydrocarbons to produce hydrogen, gasification of coal, biomass and, for some types, gasification plants to produce energy from waste.
► About Ettes Power's generation of biomass and synthetic gas engines
Ette's Syngas Power biomass engine generators range from 300kW to 1000kW.
Ettes Power is one of the leading generator manufacturers and suppliers in China. The power of the gensets varies from 20kW to 4500kW, which can be powered by the best engines in the world like Cummins, Perkins, MAN, MWM, Deutz, CNPC 190 and others.
slow speed300 Series. Ette power generators are enjoying attractive markets in more than 70 countries around the world, including Latin America, Africa, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia, etc.
For the Syngas Biomass Generator, Ettes uses 300 series low speed motors, specially designed for low quality gases such as Syngas, Biomass and Coke Gas, etc. aspirated (without turbocharger and intercooler). Ettes Power biomass engines are the ideal engines for synthesis gas plants.

► Special features and benefits of Ette's biomass and synthetic gas enginesSynthesis gas is very different from methane base gas (natural gas, biogas, mine gas, etc.). Syngas is much more complicated, has low calorific value, high tar content and unstable gas quality (TAR always raises problems with clogged pipes, fouling and clogging of cylinders, etc.).
As a result, there are few engines that can run properly on syngas. However, the low-speed engines of the Ettes 300 series can run on syngas without any problems. The main reasons are that our 300 series engines have unique and outstanding features and advantages, as follows:
•cylinder structureLinear, vertical and concise design, which means simple, easy and cheap operation and maintenance. Engine overhaul can be performed at the user's location.
•big cylinder(300mm), long stroke, low speed and large displacement of 215L and 242L, which means high energy reserve capacity and constant power.
•low engine speedat 500 or 600 rpm, which means high reliability for continuous operation, sufficient combustion, low exhaust gas temperature and high thermal efficiency.
•naturally aspirated (no turbocharger or intercooler), which means a low failure rate and minimal downtime (TARin syngas always seizes and damages the turbocharger and intercooler).
•internal Mischsystem(in the case of syngas with high hydrogen content greater than 10%), the gas and air enter separately and then mix in the combustion chamber, so there is no risk of misfire or knocking of the combustion chamber.
•Strong treatment ability and resistance to ART, long-term trouble-free operation. TAR always raises problems with pipe clogging, cylinder contamination and spark plug clogging, etc.
•Compressed air starting system, Smooth start-up, high success rate and easy maintenance.
•open cooling systemusing a plate heat exchanger with high efficiency and easy removal of deposits.
•Removable intake valve box, which means it's easy and convenient to clean (without having to disassemble the stock).
•Low speed motor makes the noise quieter.. The maximum noise ≤100dB. Through the squelch, the noise is ≤70dB.
•Low speeds mean low component wear, i.e. lower replacement cost of spare parts and long service life.
•Long overhaul time of 60,000 hours and 20-25 years of service life, which can ensure sustainable financial compensation for the plant.
.
►Quality requirements for synthetic gas biomass
•Before entering the engine, the biomass must be sufficiently filtered, gas-liquid separated and pressure regulated. If the temperature is too high, quench treatment should be carried out and ensure that there is no liquid content in the gas.
•gas temperature ≤ 40 °C, moisture content ≤ 20 mg/Nm3,
Tar content ≤ 20 mg/Nm3, H2S content ≤ 50 mg/Nm3
Impurity particle size ≤ 5 μm, impurity content ≤ 30 mg / Nm3
Brennwert≥4MJ/Nm3.
Gas pressure 3~5kpa, pressure change rate ≤ 1kPa/min
•The capacity of the synthesis gas intermediate tank must correspond to the gas consumption of the generator.
•Acceptable fuels can be low BTU gas(including synthesis gas, waste incineration gas, biomass, wood gas, production gas, rice husk gas, sawdust gas, woodchip gas, straw gas, coal gas, coke oven gas, coke oven gas, semi-coke gas, synthesis gas, pyrolysis gas, etc.)

Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), including household waste, is waste that is disposed of in a black garbage bag or bin. MSW contains a mix of recyclable, organic, inorganic and biodegradable materials. Recyclable materials are recovered as much as possible before the remainder is dried and shredded to produce a waste-derived fuel (RDF) for the process. The RDF converts waste process energy into clean, hydrogen-rich synthesis gas (syngas). Ettes Power 300 Series engines can adequately handle this type of hydrogen-rich synthesis gas. Biomass Syngasesorganic material derived from living or recently living organisms. In the context of biomass as a resource for energy production, it generally refers to plants or plant-based materials not used for food or feed and is specifically referred to as ligocellulosic biomass. As an energy source, biomass can be used directly through combustion to produce heat, or indirectly after conversion into various forms of biofuel. Wood remains the largest source of biomass energy today; Examples are forest debris (such as dead trees, branches and stumps), wood chips. In addition to wood, the raw materials for biomass gas can also be rice husks, grain stalks, straw, straw powder, coconut fiber powder and palm tufts. Tar, which can block and damage the turbocharger and intercooler, is always a problem for the biomass that is burned to produce electricity. However, Ettes Power 300 series biomass engines have strong tar treatment ability and resistance, and with the advantages of low speed, large cylinder, large displacement and special design for syngas fuel, Ettes Power engines are the best choice for synthesis gas/biomass plants.
► Waste to Energy(Gas Biomass Synthesis)Kraftwerk
Waste to Energy (WtE)or Waste Energy (EfW) is the process of generating energy in the form of electricity and/or heat from primary waste treatment. WtE is a form of energy recovery. Most WtE processes generate electricity and/or heat directly through combustion or produce a combustible fuel product such as synthesis gas fuels.
