WFP Cameroon, part of the country office of the Regional Office for Central and West Africa (RBD), faces multiple humanitarian crises while exacerbating the country's existing socioeconomic vulnerabilities. The uncertain security situation in the north of the country, the prolonged movement of refugees in the east and the crisis in the northwest and southwest put millions of people at risk of food shortages. WFP provides a key emergency response component to humanitarian response plans, regularly delivering food and sustainable development assistance to food-insecure and vulnerable parts of the country. With the launch of the second generation strategic plan, given the volatile humanitarian situation and the importance of providing effective and timely support, it is crucial to use the best capabilities of staff, partners and beneficiaries. This role, outlined below, will support WFP's mission to save and transform lives in Cameroon.

The aim of the work

Support for policy and program activities to effectively meet food aid needs.

Basic duties (not all)

  1. Contribute to the development of a wide range of projects, programs and processes, ensuring compliance with wider program principles and guidelines.
    2. Provide project management support for specific and well-defined programs and projects of significant size/complexity, ensuring a coordinated approach to the wider program in accordance with WFP standards and procedures.
    3. Develop and coordinate data collection and monitoring systems to ensure strict quality standards are met.
    4. Research and analysis of a number of political and operational issues to inform the development of policies, programs and activities.
    5. Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely reports on programs and activities to enable informed decision-making and alignment of information with stakeholders.
    6. Work with internal and external partners to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing projects and identify potential project risks.
    7. Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to work together to improve food aid programs.
    8. Support capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national governments to prepare for and respond to food aid needs, for example by contributing training materials.
    9. Mentor and supervise junior staff, act as a reference and support them with analysis and inquiries.
    10. Other as needed.

Standard minimum qualifications

educate:

  • Advanced university degree in international relations, economics, nutrition/health, agriculture, environmental science, social science or any other field related to international development assistance or university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training/courses.

experience:

  • At least two (2) years of post-graduate work experience in a related field of work with experience and interest in international humanitarian development.

Language:

  • Fluent (grade C) knowledge of English or French (spoken and written).
  • Intermediate knowledge (level B) of another official UN language: English/French. (Other working languages ​​of WFP) would be an advantage.
